Your hosts
Welcome in Trentino at Maso Tòttn Bergchalet in Valle dei Mòcheni. We have been living in Trentino, in Trento, for 30 years; we have always been keen mountaineers (mountain running, skyracing, mountaineering) and there are three of us. We are originally from southern Germany.
Our deep appreciation for this landscape and several seasons spent running mountain huts, including at the Rifugio Sette Selle in the Fersental / Valle dei Möcheni, sparked a desire to one day own an authentic mountain hut of our own. A few years ago, we were able to fulfil this wish. Inspired by the old historic huts in the valley, we then restored it in the style typical of the mountain valley, renovated it to the latest standards, fitted it out and furnished it in the traditional style of the valley.
The most important principle was to honour and preserve the hut’s original character and charm. After all, it is shaped by its surroundings in the valley and blends harmoniously into its traditional setting.
Sustainability and harmony with the mountain environment
Given the nature and location of the hut, sustainability is a natural consequence. The building was originally constructed using natural materials sourced from the immediate vicinity. We have consistently continued to follow this approach throughout the complete renovation.
We use biodegradable cleaning products, 100% hydroelectricity, underground power supply, a bio-septic tank, low-temperature underfloor heating, comprehensive waste separation in accordance with GSTC standards, no electrical appliances in the sleeping areas, and we do not offer Wi-Fi. However, you can easily access the internet in the kitchen-diner and outdoor areas using your mobile data.
When compiling the inventory, we made a conscious effort to use sustainable materials.
Out of respect for nature and in light of the rapidly advancing climate change in the Southern Alps, we have chosen not to provide water-intensive facilities such as hot tubs, a swimming pool or similar. The hut can also be reached by public transport.
